A true dive into the world of shabby chic with Lucia Re, who defines herself as a passionate home decor enthusiast, a serial collector of mugs, English porcelain, and various types of cups.
What is the Shabby Chic Style?
If you're wondering or have any doubts about what shabby chic is, just take a look at Lucia's Instagram profile or Facebook page: you'll immediately get a clear visual explanation.
If you prefer a dictionary definition, here it is: shabby chic is a combination of the words "shabby," meaning old and worn, and "chic," meaning elegant and a little bit snobbish.
This style of interior design favors furniture and accessories with an old and worn appearance, but not dilapidated!
The overall effect should be tremendously graceful, delicate, and with a slightly vintage taste. However, you can probably tell that not all the details are genuinely old. Some furniture is intentionally "shabbied," meaning they are bought new and given a vintage, dusty effect.
In this style, you'll find furniture rich in inlays, pastel paints, and an abundance of outdated objects that suddenly come back to life thanks to the context and the very chic style.
